Rushden Town BC was pleased to announce that it had secured ‘Clubmark’ accreditation from the 16th October, 2017.
At 6 p.m. on Thursday, 30th November 2017 the Certificate in recognition was presented to the Club President,
Hubert Dickens, by Felicity Howlett of Northamptonshire Sport, who was accompanied by Alex Le Guevel,
Lecturer in Sport for SCL Education Group, who was responsible for the assessment.
Rushden is only the second club in the County to have this accreditation, following Wellingborough BC,
and these join just 22 Bowls Clubs in the country to be so recognised.

The occasion was marked by the attendance of Her Worship the Mayor of Rushden, Councillor Barbara Jenney,
and her consort, husband David Jenney, and in her comments after the certificate had been presented
Mrs Jenney spoke highly of the value of the Club to the Community of Rushden Town Bowling Club.

Felicity, before making the presentation to Club President Hubert Dickens, referred to the great efforts that the
Club had to put in to get the accreditation, for ‘Clubmark’ is the only National cross-sports (not just bowls) quality accreditation scheme for Clubs with Junior Sections, and it is built around a set of core criteria which ensure that accredited clubs operate to a set of consistent, accepted and adopted minimum operating standards.
Club member Brian Langton, who was principally responsible for leading the efforts to secure ‘Clubmark’
made a short speech in which he gave credit to all those who had worked on the scheme on behalf of the Club.
As a matter of interest for our Bowls Clubs in the County, accreditation means that there are many benefits for Clubs,
in addition to the principles contained within it,including discounted rates for attendance at Sports Partnership
courses covering such subjects as - ‘Sports First Aid’, ‘Equity in Coaching’, ‘Coaching the Disabled’,
‘Recruiting new Volunteers’, ‘Attracting new Sponsorship’, ‘Marketing your Sport’, ‘Web Design’, etc.

Further information on how to achieve accreditation is available via ‘Northamptonshire Sport’, ‘English Indoor Bowling Association’ and ‘Bowls England’. Well done and congratulations to all at Rushden for achieving this accreditation!
Photos from the presentation are now on the Photo Gallery page.

Rushden were knocked out in the second round by Bedford Borough on Sunday
29th October by a narrow 7 shot margin, 74 - 81. Boo-Hoo.

Congratulations to Rushden's victorious bowlers for their first round defeat of Kempston IBC by a narrow 8 shots
on Sunday 15th October. With 2 x 50/50 mixed rinks both home and away the match was close all the way through. Each side had a heavy winning rink and the stars of the show at home for Rushden's best rink were Lynda Parsons, Robina Richards, Eric Miskowicz and Malcolm Keeling whose considerable win was a major factor in Rushden's
91 - 83 triumph. Rushden now play Bedford Borough in the second round on Sunday 29th October, good luck!

Super back-slappy clappings and congratulations to Rushden's very own 'Whizz-Bang Gallumbits' team who
victoriously stomped all the way to the System Contracts UK sponsored Burton Latimer Gala Day winners' post on Sunday August 20th, beating a team from Desborough 7 - 6 in the final on the last wood of the match.
Very well you bowled : Denise Nason, Paul Munday, Richard Harding & Nik Puryer.

SUPER CONGRATULATIONS to all of our players involved with Rushden A's victorious adventure in this
year's Evening Telegraph double rinks competition, going 2 steps further than last year's semi-final exit.
The Finals weekend culminated on Sunday August 6th with a morning semi-final win by a single shot over Wellingborough followed by a firm win in the afternoon final over 'The Way We Roll' from hosts Kettering Lodge.
Game/player details are on the County Comps page. Well Bowled Everyone !! 2 photos on the Gallery page HERE

Victory for the visitors as Higham Town BC reclaimed the Bond Cup filched by Rushden at Higham last year,
but Club Outdoor Champion Mick Corbyn retained the Don Freeman Bowl to follow Nathan Betts' win last year.
And oh what a miserably soggy evening it was! The rain on July 28th's Friday evening was pretty much constant to varying degrees and forced one mass player disappearance before thankfully lightening up to a tolerable drizzle and
the match was at least completed. Higham took an early comfortable lead on one rink while the others remained pretty close and so they remained throughout - that rink proving the overall difference as Rushden lost 59 - 78, winning 1 rink, losing 3 and drawing 1. The Champion Singles match for the Don Freeman Bowl was an exceedingly narrow affair with both Mick Corbyn and Steve Norman playing well and matching each other from start to finish despite the awful conditions. At 19 - 19 with Mick holding shot Steve's last wood was heading in to steal but unfortunately just caught
one of Mick's other woods and nudged it in for a second to give him a 21 - 19 victory. Well bowled to everyone who stayed the rain and here's to hopefully better conditions next year at Higham. 2 photos on the Gallery page HERE

President Hubert Dickens' third outing was another lovely day, the updated President's Day page is HERE

Congratulations to our most recent HOT-shotters -
Chris Wilson, Nik Puryer, Mick Corbyn & John Streather

Super congratulations and very well bowled to our Rushden Team, beating our Wellingborough friends
by nearly 100 shots 139 - 46 over 5 rinks to win the Trophy. Fantastic result !!
