More good news for the County – 3 Young County Players have qualified for the EBYDS National Finals.

As reported previously the Regional Finals of the English Bowls Youth Development Scheme were held on Sunday, 19th April, 2015, at Melton & District IBC.

The event was, as usual, organised into two age groups – Under 15 years, and 15-18 years, and it consisted of a round robin series of short matches followed by 4 skills exercises, with points being allocated to find a winning player in each Group.

The County had 12 young players taking part, they having qualified from the County School of Excellence held earlier this year at Northampton & District IBC, including the top two in each age group, Adam Pitfield and Abby Woodward of the 15-18 years group, and Jack Lee & Max Milner of the Under 15 Group.
The Top 2 players in each age group from all of the Regional Qualifying events around the country, proceed to the National School of Excellence which, this year, will also be held at Melton & District IBC on Sunday, 25th October, 2015.

When all the points had been added up for the matches and the skills, the County had three players qualified for the National event. Bruce Sibbett, Kettering Lodge IBC and Harvey Johnson of Rushden Town IBC, (and aged just 10 years) were the top two in the Under 15 Section, and Adam Pitfield, Rushden Town IBC was the second highest scorer in the 15-18 Group.

Well done to all of those who were taking part, but particularly to these three for qualifying for the National Final in October.
